The popular messaging app, Telegram, now offers its users the capacity to buy, withdraw, and exchange Bitcoin (BTC) through a third-party Wallet bot, rather than a native Telegram-developed service.
The Wallet bot and similar services are developed by third-party creators utilizing Telegram's open bot API, allowing anyone to build their own crypto-related bot without direct involvement from Telegram.
According to an April 21 announcement from the @wallet account, users can now perform buy, withdraw, exchange, and peer-to-peer (P2P) transactions with Bitcoin directly via Telegram's web interface. This addition expands the range of cryptocurrency services already prevalent within the chat platform. The announcement states:
"Bitcoin is now accessible on the @wallet web interface, along with a new instant exchange feature. Users can buy, withdraw, exchange, and conduct P2P transactions with BTC directly through our revamped web interface. Purchasing Bitcoin is now possible using a bank card or the P2P market in the 'Buy & Sell' section of our user-friendly interface."
The announcement also highlights the platform's updated "Exchange" feature, which now supports instant swapping between Bitcoin, Tether (USDT), and Telegram Open Network (TON).
As cryptocurrency adoption and popularity surge, it will be intriguing to observe how Telegram and other third-party industry participants continue to innovate and adapt to accommodate the evolving needs and desires of users worldwide."
